App blocking
What blocking does
You choose which apps to lock; the mode decides when they get locked and how they unlock:
- Workout — you set a time by which your child must do the day's workout. If it isn't done by then, the apps are locked. Once your child completes all of the day's exercises in the “Corpus Clinic” app, they unlock until the next day.
- Training — you set a training time; your child gets a reminder. From that time the apps stay locked until your child completes all of the day's training exercises — then they unlock until the next day.
- Earned screen time (Android only) — the apps are locked from the start and unlock only for the time your child earns: each completed exercise earns the number of minutes you set. When the earned time runs out, the apps are locked again.
iPhone and iPad: the “Earned screen time” mode does not block apps. On iPhone and iPad, blocking works in the “Workout” and “Training” modes.
What can be blocked
On Android
Any app installed on your child's phone that appears in the list, including pre-installed ones such as YouTube or Chrome. So that the phone stays usable, some apps can never be locked and are not in the list: “Corpus Clinic” itself, the phone's Settings, the home screen and the phone (calls) app.
iPhone and iPad
Apps, whole app categories (for example, games or social networking) and websites. You choose them in Apple's Screen Time list, which the app opens for you.
How to turn it on
Blocking is turned on on the phone your child uses. “Corpus Clinic” must be installed on it (corpusclinic.lt/app opens the App Store or Google Play) and signed in with your parent account.
On Android
The Android app is in Lithuanian only for now, so the button names below are in Lithuanian, with English in brackets.
- Create a free parent account (on the sign-in screen — Neturi paskyros? (No account?)), sign in and add your child.
- On your child's screen, tap the gear icon at the top right and enter the parent PIN (you'll create it the first time) — Tėvų zona (Parent zone) opens.
- Open Nustatymai (Settings) → Saugumas (Security) → Programėlių blokavimas (App blocking). Read the explanation of what the app can see and tap Sutinku (I agree). (After you sign in, the app may also show this explanation on its own.)
- Turn on the two phone permissions the app takes you to: Rodymas virš kitų programų (Display over other apps) and Pasiekiamumo paslauga (Accessibility service) — tap Įjungti (Turn on), then find “Corpus Clinic” in the phone's settings and turn it on. Android shows a warning about controlling the device — this is standard text for every such service; “Corpus Clinic” only sees the name of the app that is open.
- Select the apps you want to block. When the status shows Veikia (Active), blocking is on and the phone becomes your child's device: only the child's screen opens, and settings can only be changed in the Parent zone with the PIN.
- Tėvų zona → Nustatymai → Režimai (Modes): choose Mankšta (Workout), Treniruotė (Training) or Uždirbamas laikas (Earned screen time), and set the time and the exercise set.
iPhone and iPad
- Create a free parent account (on the sign-in screen — No account yet? Sign up), sign in and add your child.
- On your child's screen, tap the lock icon at the top right and enter the parent PIN (you'll create it the first time) — the Parent zone opens.
- Open Settings → App blocking and tap Grant permission — confirm Apple's Screen Time permission.
- Blocked apps — choose apps, categories or websites.
- Turn on Blocking enabled. The device switches to kid mode: changing the child or leaving it is only possible with the PIN.
- Parent zone → Settings → Modes: choose Workout or Training, and set the time and the exercise set.
If the iPhone app is in Lithuanian, the names are: Tėvų zona (Parent zone), Nustatymai (Settings), Programėlių blokavimas (App blocking), Suteikti leidimą (Grant permission), Blokuojamos programėlės (Blocked apps), Blokavimas įjungtas (Blocking enabled), Režimai (Modes), Mankšta (Workout), Treniruotė (Training).
Keeping your child from turning blocking off
iPhone and iPad
On your child's device, set a Screen Time passcode your child doesn't know (Settings → Screen Time → lock the settings with a passcode), turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions and, in them, don't allow deleting apps. Then your child can't delete “Corpus Clinic” and, on recent iOS versions, can't turn off its Screen Time access either. If access does get turned off (possible on older iOS versions), the Parent zone shows the warning Not working — Screen Time access turned off — tap Grant permission again.
On Android
Android lets the accessibility service and other permissions be turned off in the phone's settings — blocking then stops, and the app can't prevent this. In the Parent zone (Nustatymai → Saugumas → Programėlių blokavimas) you'll see the status Neveikia: pasiekiamumo paslauga išjungta (Not working: accessibility service is off).
- What to do: on that screen, next to Pasiekiamumo paslauga (Accessibility service), tap Įjungti (Turn on) and enable the service again.
- If the switch in the phone's settings is greyed out (“Restricted setting”), open the app info screen, tap the three-dot menu at the top right and choose “Allow restricted settings”.
- Huawei, Xiaomi, Samsung and some other phones stop apps in the background. Let “Corpus Clinic” run without battery restrictions: Settings → Apps → “Corpus Clinic” → Battery → Unrestricted.
- Check the blocking status from time to time and talk the rules through with your child.
Clock
So that blocking can't be bypassed by changing the clock, automatic time must be on on your child's phone. While it is off, the task isn't counted and the apps stay locked. On iPhone and iPad, automatic time can't be turned off while blocking is on.
How to turn it off
In the same place you turned it on — in the Parent zone with the PIN. On Android: Nustatymai → Saugumas → Programėlių blokavimas → Išjungti blokavimą (Turn off blocking). On iPhone and iPad: Settings → App blocking → switch off Blocking enabled.
FAQ
Do I need to take part in the school project?
No. Blocking is available to anyone who creates a free parent account.
Does it cost anything?
No. The app and blocking are free, with no in-app purchases.
Can you see what my child does on the phone?
No. The app doesn't read screen content, messages or browsing and doesn't send them anywhere. On Android it only recognises which app is open, so that it can show the blocking screen when needed. On iPhone and iPad, blocking is done by iOS itself through Screen Time — the app can't even see the names of the apps you chose.
